What is the difference between advertising and a corporate sponsorship?
To learn more about Corporate Sponsorship we turn to our governing body, the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). According to ASHA, the difference is rooted in the general purpose of the ad or posting. The following was taken direction from the ASHA Website:
Advertising is a call to action. It's calling something (product or service or recruitment) to the attention of the public to help sell a product or to make an announcement.
Sponsorship is a heightened branding opportunity offered to companies or organizations to augment their exposure. Sponsorship increases the visibility of a company on the expo floor, through visibility opportunities (signage, footprints, digital billboards, logo placements, etc.)
SLP Nerdcast embraces sponsorship as a way to connect companies that provide valuable resources in our field with clinicians who may be seeking those resources. Each of our sponsors is vetted to ensure they meet specified criteria outline in our corporate sponsorship policies. SLP Nerdcast does not employ advertisements.
Why does SLP Nerdcast have Corporate Sponsors?
SLP Nerdcast relies on corporate sponsorship to bridge gaps in funding. This funding source makes it possible for us to keep our pricing as low as possible. It also sustains our free library of courses related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Funding from corporate sponsorship supports our team, and researchers, academics, guests, and lecturers who participate in creating our courses.
What is the SLP Nerdcast policy regarding Corporate Sponsorships?
SLP Nerdcast has a robust policy related to corporate sponsorship, the main goal of which is to mitigate conflicts of interest. You can read more about our corporate sponsorship policies here.
